Current
Waivers of Compliance
BN/SF is seeking
a waiver on the application of
hand brakes on standing
locomotives within yards.
Federal Register June30, 2003
KCS is applying
to remove the North and South
Benson control points and the
associated power switch machines
and controlled signals and
replace them with electrically
locked, hand operated switches
and a back-to-back signal at
South Benson.
BN/SF is
applying for a waiver to the
Locomotive Safety Standards as
they pertain to maintain the
locomotive repair record (Blue
Card).
UP is applying
for a waiver to the Locomotive
Safety Standards requirement
that "all electrical devices and
viable insulation shall be
inspected" at each periodic
inspection. UP wants to monitor
ground current leakage instead
of doing a visual inspection.
UP is seeking
relief to the 'Blue Flag' law to
allow T&E employees to change
EOT batteries without having to
remove the device from the
train.
UP wants a
longer inspection interval for
electronic air brake equipment
installed by WABTEC Corporation.
